Un premier retour d'un utilisateur, Silvialy Tjhin, ne semble pas fameux:
"Got my iPen. After trying it out on ghostwriter, I wasn't too thrilled with its sensitivity. Definitely not up to the point where its precise enough to be used for sketching. The palm rejection is great at first, but horrible if used in ghostwriter. For some reason, my palm kept on sliding the pages and this weird thing coming out of the bottom of the page. Then, sometimes the tiny sensitivity dots disappear to who knows where. I raised my arm a bit to make it refocus, but this is annoying when I had to stop whatever I was doing. Definitely not reliable enough if I need to jot down something fast in a meeting. Overall, this is the first digital pen I bought for my ipad so I'm not expecting anything, but this is definitely overpriced for the quality that is shown on the video. The plastic on the pen somehow feels cheap, the dongle feels more expensive."
Il précise donc que le palm rejection (rejet de la paume de la main) ne semble pas encore totalement au point sur certains softs; quelquefois, le curseur qui permet de savoir ou se trouve la pointe du stylet disparait: il est donc forcé de lever et reposer sa main pour réactiver le curseur. Son verdict: un produit imparfait un peu cher… !
On en déduira que cet outil conviendra à des dessinateurs occasionnels, mais risque d'agacer rapidement les professionnels (si la gestion de la paume de la main n'est pas parfaite, ca peut en faire raler plus d'un). Dommage que l'Ipad 3, son écran retina, sa puissance et son offre logicielle ne puisse pas bénéficier d'un device plus adapté !…
